CPDC Calls for Urgent Caribbean Debt Relief at COP 28

The Caribbean Policy Development Centre (CPDC) has issued a formal call for urgent debt relief measures for Caribbean Small Island Developing States (SIDS) at the COP 28 climate summit in Dubai.

“Caribbean nations are among the most vulnerable to climate change, yet they carry unsustainable debt burdens that prevent them from investing in climate resilience,” said CPDC Executive Director. “We need immediate action on debt-for-climate swaps and concessional financing.”

The proposal outlines a framework for linking debt relief to climate adaptation investments, building on the successful models implemented in Belize and Barbados.
